REVIEW - Puck Aholic (Bad Motherpuckers #3) by Lili Valente

The Book
Release Date: 11 July 2017

I hate my new roommate.

And I want to do dirty, delicious things to her in that swing she installed that we both know has nothing to do with aerial yoga.

Neither of which is good, considering Diana Daniels is my NHL team captain’s little sister, and he will break my face if I’m not a perfect gentleman.

I try to be. Really, I do. But when Diana runs screaming down the hall wearing nothing but a damp washcloth, all my gentlemanly intentions go out the window. She’s got all sorts of Jedi mind tricks to make a man obsessed with getting her into bed, and I’m not gonna lie—I fall for every single one of them.

Especially the one where she warns me not to fall for her.

***

Everyone knows that banging your new roomie is a bad idea. And if it wasn’t for his sister’s stupid pet pig, Wanda, chasing me out of the bathroom mid-shower, Tanner Nowicki and I might still be able to pretend we hate each other.

But that pig totally has it out for me, and before I can warn Tanner that I don’t do relationships—or hockey players or my brother’s friends, for that matter—he’s doing me. Against the wall. And in his bed. And in my bed. And on a pinball machine where we get an all time high score.

And it’s so incredible that I start to forget that I’m the unluckiest woman alive when it comes to relationships. And pigs. And aerial yoga. And worst of all, love.

But hey, it’s not like I didn’t warn him…

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Hahahahahaha this book had me laughing out loud at times.  This author can be so on point and so funny it hurts.

Diana and Tanner are completely hot and the chemistry between the two completely leaps off the pages and singes your underwear.  Be warned people, this is one hot read!

Tanner really is a lovely guy and he stays steadfast and sure in the fact that he wants Diana and never treats her badly, says anything nasty and is there for her.

Diana is man shy as she feels like she has always made bad decisions when it comes down to men and gets scared when what she thought was true in her past turns out to be false.

We get to see a little about previous characters and we also get to meet Amanda and see a little more of Russian Petrov who will feature in the next book.

I loved this book so much that i read it in one day and i really cannot wait to read the next book.  This whole series seriously just seems to get better and better.

Well worth reading, just bring a fan to cool yourself down with.

REVIEW - Country Nights by Winter Renshaw

The Book
Release Date: 27 June 2017
Goodreads Link

Sixty country days and sixty country nights—that’s all I wanted.

I needed to get away from the city, away from the hot mess that had become my life.

When I stumbled upon my childhood home on RentBnB.com, I took it as a sign, cleaned out my life savings, and hightailed it to the only place that ever meant something to me, a place I hadn’t seen since a lifetime ago.

Only when I arrived to the familiar South Dakotan farmhouse, I was met by a brooding, we-don’t-take-kindly-to-strangers cowboy by the name of River McCray, who insisted this was his house and most definitely not a rental property.

I’d been internet scammed.

And that cocky, smart-mouthed stranger had the nerve to make me a humiliating offer: I could stay in his house for the next two months rent-free, but I had to work for him.

He’d be my boss. And my roommate.

With no money and nowhere else to go, I agreed. But nothing could have prepared me for the tension, the attraction, and the bombshell revelation that changed … everything.

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I really enjoyed this book and the will she won't she between two possible contenders for her heart.  The surprise between the two male characters had me nodding, as i didn't see that one coming, but i though with the missing keys that something was not right with Seth.

River was a good brooding cowboy with a sweet heart, and i was happy to see that he had good people looking after him, even though he could be a bit closed off.

Leighton did seem a little naive to begin with and i am still wondering if it was Seth that put the advert up to get money and play a trick on his brother.

The relationship between the two certainly starts a little prickly, but is soon warms up to epic proportions as Leightons goodness permeates through River and he is powerless but to let her in.

I was happy they got their HEA and that River got a second chance at a happiness that he deserved.

**My thanks to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is the first book that i have read by this author and although i really liked it, the big secret from Ford was not really a secret and i got pretty much what i had expected from really near the beginning of the book.

I liked Ford and his personality and connected with him, but it took me a little while to connect with Liv.

The supporting cast are good and you don't have to read the previous book to catch up on anything as everything is there explained to you.

A good read but it was nothing exciting.

From the bestselling author of Bad Romance comes an edgy novel about a reformed bad boy training to be a priest and the fallen angel who makes him think twice about giving up earthly pleasures.

But when she hits rock bottom, Thorn is there for her—and now there’s no denying the raw temptation that draws them together in their darkest moments. Rose may have found salvation in his strong arms, but she knows that Thorn must choose his own path: in the church, or in the warm embrace of a woman’s love.

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This was a very engaging read for me and i completely devoured it one i had finally started.  Its a best friends story where there is forgiveness, love, pain, angst, near death and romance with a side of sexy scenes between the pair.  Yes we do get a lot of soul searching too and sometimes it felt a little profound and had me thinking too.

Thorn had turned his back on what he really wanted after the death of his best friend and it is only when Rose, his best friends sister who he promised to protect, gets hurt, that he finally finds out why he has been struggling to take his vows to turn rom a Deacon in the Roman Catholic church into a fully fledged Priest.

The trouble, he has always loved, and will always love Rose more.

Rose is a survivor and a very strong woman and has always know that she may never get the best life out there.  She always supports Thorn with everything and always pushes him into a better life even if it is painful for her.

Really glad that i got to read this book and certainly had a good few moments where i found tears trailing down my cheeks.

REVIEW - Hushed by Joanne Macgregor

The Book
Release Date: 26 March 2017

* Hushed - a modern romance inspired by the classic tale of The Little Mermaid *

Would you sacrifice your voice for love?

18-year-old Romy Morgan desperately longs to escape the boring future her parents have planned for her, and explore the world.

When she saves her celebrity crush, superstar Logan Rush, from drowning, Romy is offered a job as his personal assistant. She strikes a deal to reinvent herself in exchange for entering the exciting world of the movies, and love sparks between her and this prince of Hollywood. But Romy soon discovers that she has traded her voice and identity for an illusion of freedom.

When she discovers a dreadful secret with the power to destroy Logan, Romy must choose between love, revenge and finding her own, true element.

If you like contemporary young adult romance with all the feels - and a twist of humor - then you’ll love this refreshingly modern and realistic spin on the classic tale of The Little Mermaid from award-winning YA author, Joanne Macgregor.

Note: this is not a fantasy novel – the only tails, fins and flippers in the story are those on sharks and whales!

Hushed makes great reading for fans of Stephanie Perkins, Jenny Han, Sarah Dessen and Gayle Forman.

My Review  4 STARS
Now i have read this book i can see why people have the idea that this is a very modern take on the Little Mermaid fairy tale.  This is not a paranormal book in any way and Romy and the supporting cast are very much human.

Romy is a sweet girl who is presumed by each of her parent to join them in a work placement in order that she can join them with them at their jobs.  Roy however does not know what she wants to do, but things move in ways that she never could have predicted.

Logan is a celebrity who does not like the way his career is going and nearly, accidentally kills himself, but Romy is there at the right time to save him and is actually very sensible for her age.

Both characters are warm, engaging and bring you into their stories, however this book does have an environmental message, but is not in your face about it like a few others i have read.

Its been a while since i read something other than an adult book and i must say that i really enjoyed this one.

REVIEW - Unexpectedly Hers (Sterling Canyon #3) by Jamie Beck

The Book
Release Date: 21 February 2017
Goodreads link

By day, bashful wallflower Emma Duffy works at her family’s bed-and-breakfast. By night, she secretly pens erotic romance hot enough to melt the snow in their cozy Rockies town.
But Emma’s real life is about to heat up when her mother books the entire inn to a professional snowboarder, hoping the publicity will put them on the map. In a karmic twist of fate, that guest is Wyatt Lawson, the man with whom Emma had shared the secret one-night stand that became the inspiration for her novel and its dreamy hero. Worse, a film crew is documenting his comeback just as her debut is about to hit the shelves. Emma’s only saving grace is that Wyatt doesn’t remember her—and hopefully he never will.
When Wyatt arrives in Sterling Canyon for several weeks of intense training, the last tumble he expects to take is falling for a girl, especially one as shy as Emma. Unlike groupies with their hidden agendas, she isn’t using him—or so he believes…until the film crew uncovers Emma’s pen name and steamy novel.
Wyatt’s comeback run can withstand a fall or two, but can his heart recover from this crash and burn?

My Review  3 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This can be read as a stand alone book although it is part of a series and i did not feel as if anything was lost with the other characters by not having read their stories.

This book was ok, but i really struggled that at age 31 Emma was such a wet blanket with her mother and had not reached out to be more of her own person before now.  The fact that she was still living with her mother at the end of the book and using her royalties to fix up the inn also sat as daft, especially as she could have used that money to get her own place and be her own person.  Just daft!!

Emma's mum was also someone i did not like, i mean what adult chastises their 31 year old daughter for kissing someone.  I mean really!

Wyatt was ok but again i had issues with his character, but i did live his brother Ryder who seemed to have more character and lovability than his bland brother.

I will not be reading any further book in this series.

REVIEW - A Ruthless Proposition by Natasha Anders

The Book
Release Date: 26 January 2016

All that glitters may lead right to his heart…

The last thing Cleopatra Knight expects on her business trip to Tokyo is to fall into bed with her arrogant, irresistibly hot boss, Dante Damaso. It’s a mistake—a steamy, mind-blowingly satisfying mistake. But a few nights of passion with the superwealthy bad boy prove to have long-term effects when Cleo’s world is unexpectedly turned upside down.

Dante has cultivated an enviable, jet-setting lifestyle: beautiful women, exotic destinations, and luxury without limits. He’s not looking to be domesticated, and certainly not by his assistant—even though he can’t get her out of his mind. Still, he knows he has both the responsibility and the financial means to help Cleo.

Though Cleo has no interest in Dante’s money, her lack of prospects gives her little choice but to accept his help. But living under the same roof, Dante discovers he wants more, and if Cleo lets down her guard, she just might find what her heart’s wanted all along.

My Review  5 STARS
This book had a bit of a slow start where we have Dante who is to be honest a bit of an A***hole and a bit up himself, and we also had Cleo who suffers with Dante's moods and strange behaviour.

It is a trip to Tokyo that changes the dynamic of their 'relationship' and only one they have come back home do things really change.

It is about 2/3 into the book that had me completely balling my eyes out and then i just couldn't stop the story line was so sad and it really struck a cord with me as it may many women

Really well written and the story line really grips you and pulls you in, it certainly had me captivated.

Certainly glad that i gave this author a chance.

"Top Pick! Almost a Bride put a smile on my face more than once. The dialogue was witty, the words were well-written and the heroine was one-of-a-kind." ---Harlequin Junkie

My Review  5 STARS
This author is brilliantly funny and i read this book after books two and three and did not feel like i lost anything reading them in the wrong order.

When Lilly's finance jolts her at the alter she goes a little nuts at home, then decides she wants to go on the honeymoon by herself where upon she meets Damien.

Its sweet, its funny and had me turning page after page wanting to know what would happen next, would else could possibly go wrong and how they would eventually get their happy ever after.

I would really recommend this series.

A merman's mate-bond is for life... or is it?

Find out how a sexy merman with a death-curse overcomes his fate in this Mates for Monsters short story.

My Review  3 STARS
This is a very quick novella that focuses on Rubac, the brother of the merman (Zantu) from book one in the series.

In the first book we find that Rubac is grieving the loss of his child and that his mate was eaten by a shark, not that mermaids love their mates.

Ruben wants to be free of the bond as he is likely to go mad and die of a broken heart.  Therefore as his other child has reached maturity and left home he has his quest to become free and that involves a human female.

Madison wants to clear her name and therefore wants to find a rare hybrid dolphin so is out on the water in a boat by herself.  Finding a merman was never in her scientific mind possible.

Being a VERY short story (60 pages) things more at a cheetah's pace and we get a happy ever after for them.

Even Monsters Need a Mate

After the death of her child, Brianna seeks to end her life within the ocean’s final embrace. Instead, she falls into the arms of a sexy, sleek-tailed monster. He’s wild, seductive, and sets her blood on fire every time he touches her, and soon she begins to need him for more than his magic to breathe underwater. He might just give her a new reason to live.

Zantu has evaded the mate-bond for thirty-five years, dodging promiscuous mermaids with vile intents. Unlike mermaids, mermen bond for life, and Zantu refuses to accept the heartbreak most mermen die of. That is, until the glint of gold catches his eye, and a simple salvage mission turns to passion. Now he’s bonded to a human, and begins to wonder if bonding to the right mate might not be so bad. The problem? A finless female won’t live long among the dangers of the sea.

Now Zantu must choose between keeping her at his side, and keeping her safe. Either way, he’s sure he’ll end up with a broken heart.

Content Warning: Explicit love scenes, dangerous mermaids, and sexy merman secrets. Guaranteed HEA with no cliffhangers. Intended for mature audiences.

**My thanks to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I wasn't quite sure about this one at the beginning, as things between Brianna and Zantu move lightning fast to the point it feels like i rolled ever sentence.

I did like the fact that the mermaids were the baddies, yet the mermen were the ones that tended the babes and were the more emotional ones for a change.

The book is edited well and the story well written, there are just bits that seem a little daft or too fast, but otherwise this was an ok  book.

When you go to Greece to meet your family but end up making out with your smokin' hot tour guide #sorrynotsorry

Being adopted never made Jane Smith feel unloved, just unlikethe rest of her family. As her twenty-fifth birthday approaches, she is struck by an overwhelming longing to finally find her place in the world. So in a very un-Jane-like move, she books a last-minute ticket to Greece to find her birth father and the realJane. All she knows about him is it that he was a tour guide named Dimitri. Armed with this knowledge and several surprise boxes of condoms from her mom (not embarrassing at all), Jane takes off.

Within minutes of landing she makes two important discoveries. First, everyone in Greece is named Dimitri, and second, fate might be playing a sick joke on her when a sexy tour guide called Dimitri comes to fetch her from the airport. He offers to help Jane with her search---if she'll go on an adventure with him. Stable Jane would never risk a steamy vacation romance. But real Jane might finally be ready to listen to her heart. Will Jane find her biological father, or will she end up finding something else entirely?

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Just like the previous book in the series it is a witty rom com that will have you laughing out loud and so hoping that the main characters will be getting an epic happy ending.

Jane has always felt out of place at home always having know that she was adopted.  After knowing that her mother wants nothing do do with her and that she is half Greek, Jane does nothing until feeling a little strange one day when she is in her twenties.

Upping her home and going to Santorini she meets Dimitri almost immediately and a connection is almost there from the beginning.  Jane finds herself doing new things, trying new thing all because of Dimitri, who at the beginning has her all tongue tied.

Dimitri is a lovely man, but keeps one tiny secret from her that when revealed rocks Jane's trust and she flees back home.

I seriously could not stop from turing page after page of this book and was completely sad that there was no epilogue with the book and finding out what happened to them a year or so down the line.

I know that this is a three book series, but would so much like to read the stories of Val and Stormy-Rain and have their happy ever afters.

This is a rom com that will certainly have you laughing out loud.  I really enjoyed this book and was so happy that Annie was able to have her happy ever after after the shit storm that had been her life for the last year or so.

So much happened and i really just could not help myself from turning page after page and devouring the book, and as night approached i just continued to read. Sometimes a book just grabs you and i just really found myself wanting to know what happened next.

This is a second chance at love book that moves pretty fast, but it is Lilly who cannot forgive and forget the past and what Jack put her through, unwitting or not.

Both have had heartache, and both dealt with it differently, but now Jack is back to rekindle their romance and will stop at nothing to prove to Lilly that he wants her back for good.

We learn pretty quickly what Lily's big secret is and what has now happened between them and it is only Jacks constant appearance by Lily's side and finding out how Jack has really coped that pulls her close until a near death experience brings them back for good.

Its a good, fairly light-hearted read but does not need to be read as part of the series.

I have not read the first book in the series and did not feel like i needed two and that this can be read as a stand alone book.

Although i liked this book you can tell an American wrote the book as when Lincoln is talking from his point of view he phones home on his cell, where and English man would call it his mobile phone.  Little things like this just stood out in the English thinking/speaking that were not quite correct.

The story was fairly fun and other than the above well written, both had baggage and were pretty stubborn, but Lincoln was always the one who did the most fighting to save their relationship.

Further down the line i may well end up reading book three as the tension between Coop and Pepper was leaping off the pages in their brief interactions.

This is the beginning to another brilliant series by Mimi Jean.

Rook Island is not on the maps and very few actually know about it with people only telling close friends about it.

An island where only women's fantasy are made to come true and only women are eligible to become guests for a hefty price tag.

Stephanie is a strong woman set on a mission to find her missing sister and she will do anything to get information on her whereabouts.  She does not count however on the dashing Mr Rook and the confusing set of events that happen on the island.

I actually read this book in just a day, sitting down and having a day indoors with my kids going nuts around me as i just could not put it down.

The book does not have a cliff hanger ending however there are so many loose ends that you will be tearing your hair out in anticipation for the next book to come out.

REVIEW - The Cowboy's Baby: A Small Town Montana Romance (Corbett Billionaires Book 1) by Imani King

The Book
Release Date: 15 July 2017
Goodreads Link

One look and I can tell city-girl Tia Kinsley has no business in River Bend, Montana. First, she tries to pet my fearsome prize stallion. Next, she manages to let half my cattle out of the pasture, right onto a busy road.
Why? To help a stray calf get back to his momma.
Two brutal tours in Iraq filled my heart with darkness. Combat changed me. When I left the Marines I moved to out west to build fences – around my property and my heart. I wrote new rules – no relationships, no complications – and I stuck to them.
Until her.
She's a fish out of water, the girl who thinks it's just fine to wear five-inch heels to a hoe-down. Sure, she looks like sin in those heels – but she's everything I don't need.
It takes a chance encounter outside a bar on a summer night to see something familiar in her eyes. Hurt. I know that look. I've seen that pain before, staring back at me in the mirror.
Tia thinks she wants to know the 'real' me, but she doesn't know what that means...
A novel about small towns, second chances and finding love when you least expect it.

Tia is a nineteen year old who recently lost her parents and has moved to this part of Montana only because her great aunt and uncle are the only relatives that she has left.

Dallas is seven years older than her and has retreated fro the world and his rich family after his time overseas in Iraq.

Tia is the only person in the three years that he has felt tempted by anyone and they soon find it hard to resist each other even when obstacles are put in the way of their happiness.

Both Tia and Dallas has experiences a loss that the other can relate too and they find themselves compelled towards each other with Tia often seeming more mature than her years.

A decent read, just a bit of a slow start for me.

REVIEW - SEAL'd Heart by Alice Ward

Fate is twisted, and karma's a bitch. Maybe destiny will give us a second chance.

I've been best friends with Skye since we were ten years old. She was my life. We did nearly everything together.

Until graduation night. The night I f'cked it all up.

Escaping to the Navy, I found a new home with the SEALs. Then tragedy struck, and I lost it all, again.

Now I find myself face-to-face with the woman I've tried so hard to forget. But it seems I've made it impossible for her to stop thinking about me. I left a brown-haired, brown-eyed reminder.

Her secret. My son.

A powerful reminder of how love can overcome all. A reminder that I have someone who needs me. Almost as much as I need him. And Skye.

I won't give up. This time I'll give it all I've got. I'll protect my new family as fiercely as I protected my country.

I just didn't realize I needed to protect them from me.

This was a friends to lovers book reunited tale with a secret, that opens the relationship back up again six years later.

Skye was always in love with Jake, but their other friend Trey was also in love with Skye.  When tragedy strikes after one night together Jake runs and joins the military.

Skye is a strong character and moves to the city for her college course and gets a job in order to support her and her child Jagger.

There is a fair anoint of angst, a man suffering from PTSD and one particular moment where your heart is in your mouth.

I an glad that Skye and Jake are able to put their past behind them and find their happy ever after and that Jake gets the family that he doesn't believe at first that he deserves.

REVIEW - Psyched (Taboo 101, #2) by Havana Scott

It was supposed to be one night only…

The curvy, nerdy blonde from the bar and me after a night of too many drinks. I gave her the best time of her life. She gave me the best head ever. We parted ways in the morning. No drama.

A therapist’s dream come true.

But then my secretary announced my first visitor of the morning: Alice Verano, female, 20 years old, citing “school-induced anxiety” and “detachment issues.” When the door opened, I nearly spit my coffee. My nerdy hookup was a campus undergrad and now my patient?

F*ck my life.

When her mouth opened into an “O” of shock, I immediately hardened. I should have ended it right then and there. But I couldn’t. I had to hear her full story—the one I’d missed when I was too busy banging her. “Hello, I’m Dr. Roman. How may I be of service?”

** This younger woman/older man standalone in the Taboo 101 Books does not contain cheating. It does, however, contain an HEA and will make your private bits self-combust. You have been warned.

I really did enjoy this book and the age gap between the two felt like nothing to me, why?  Because my husband and i of 11 years are 13 years apart, so this was a non-issue for me.

Loved that Alice is a kick ass engineering student and that she is stronger than she thinks, i also loved Dr Roman Lee and the psychology that would come out in parts.

The chemistry between the two was combustable and changed everything between and with them, turning them into the people that they needed to be to better themselves and their futures.

I really look forward to the next book in the series.

After her father was caught embezzling, Avery’s comfortable life in the city was blown to bits. But meeting Tyler helped to pick up the pieces and eased her into country living. She just never expected the handsome musician would add to her heartbreak by walking away without a backward glance.

Now, three years later, rock star Tyler’s come back, hat in hand. He’s found fame and fortune as a member of Wicked White, but it’s all worth nothing without Avery’s love. Can she forgive him for leaving when she needed him most? Or will the ghost of their past keep them apart?

This is the third and last book in the series and can be read as a stand alone book quite easily.

The book redeems itself from the second book and puts the past first, then the present day.  Avery is a strong girl to which a lot happens in just the space of a few months.  Her dad is moving them to her Granny's house in a place an awful lot smaller than she is used to, but she makes proper friends here.

Tyler i liked a lot, until he was stupid.  I was glad that he was able to redeem himself and prove that he was the man that we had hoped he was.

The plot was good and i felt sorry for Avery, who considering coped really well with the events that were heaped onto her.

Glad we got a good ending, but would loved for Blake to have a story and a chance at a happy ever after.
